WATER 4 HAITI - The goal is to collect and send 1 million bottles of water to the people of Haiti - drop off locations at Progressive Union PB Church (191 Brandontown Road), Richard Showers Center (4600 Blue Spring Road), Union Chapel MB Church (315 Winchester Road), Tailgaters BBQ (5856 Highway 53, Harvest), City of Huntsville Fire Station #1 (2110 Clinton Avenue), and City of Huntsville Station #7 (11524 South Memorial Parkway).  There will be a Commencing Rally at Union Chapel Church on Saturday, February 27 from 10am until 2pm.

MARCH 2010

Sprouting Scientists - Every Tuesday, from 10 until 10:45, ages 2 & 3 year olds (with a parent or caregiver); 11 until noon for ages 4 & 5 - a program featuring an experienced preschool educator presenting exciting hands-on activities, stories and music that is centered around a specific science theme.  Visit

March 11 - The Concert of Hope will be held at 7pm at First Missionary Baptist Church (3509 Blue Springs Road) featuring the Watoto Children's Choir from Uganda.  This concert is free to the public, but a donation would be appreciated to support the Watoto Child Care Ministries.

- "I Love You, You're Perfect... March 19 - 27 - "Inherit the Wind" will be presented by Theatre Huntsville in the VBC Playhouse.  This drama is a fictionalized account of the 1925 Scopes "Monkey Trial", which resulted in John T. April 17 - 18 - The 26th Annual Bloomin' Festival will be held at St. Bernard Prep School.  This two-day juried art festival is held in the picturesque landscape surrounding the beautiful campus, and is a fundraiser for the operation and maintenance of the school, with more than 140 booths, filled with artists demonstrating and exhibiting their work.  Admission is $5 per person, children 5 and under free.  Admission to Ave Maria Grotto is just $3 per person for the entire weekend.

May 15 - The American Diabetes Association's Tour de Cure will be at McMullen Cove - bicyclists from all around will join together in the fight against diabetes as they ride through the scenic Tennessee Valley (25 miles).  For more information on the ride or on diabetes, contact kasmith@diabetes.org.

SEPTEMBER 2010
