The honorees for this year's Gala are:

Dr. Kendall Black - In 2005, Dr. Black was diagnosed with prostate cancer.  He underwent surgery and radiation treatments, followed by three years of chemotherapy.  Now, PSA tests, MRI and x-rays all remain clear for Kendall.

Sally Stockton - In 2008, Sally underwent surgery, followed by radiation and chemotherapy after being diagnosed with breast cancer.  Sally celebrated her 50th birthday at Clearview Cancer Institute, but has a new perspective on life - "This cancer is not going to kill me.  This is just a mid-life attitude adjustment," she recalls.  All follow up visits have been clear, clean and cancer free!

For nearly a century, the American Cancer Society has fought for every birthday threatened by every cancer in every community.  By taking what we've learned through research and turning it into what we do, we have contributed to a 15 percent decrease in the overall cancer death rate between the early 1990's and 2005.  Overall, 11 million cancer survivors in America will celebrate a birthday this year.
